NO MORE ANGRY BIRDS!!!!!!

As an avid angry bird play I am completely distraught after my HTC Incredible updated to Android 2.3.4  All of my Angry birds are inaccessible.  Currently I have;
  • rovio angry birds
  • rovio angry birds rio
  • rovio angry birds seasonal
All versions show pieces of the program installed on the SD card but can not be accessed.  I am told that the application is not installed by the phone.  However when I go to phone settings / manage applications / ALL applications  - I can see the apps there.  However according to the Android Market & Amazon where I got Rio from,  I do not have Angry Birds installed.
I had 3 stars on all levels and all golden eggs.  I also just updated to the newest version of angry birds from the android market and newest rio version.  I am so sad, this was my guilty pleasure and I want it back.

I also tried to unmount and remount the SD card.  I have 1.6GB of free space on the SD card.  Angry Birds is not the only app I am having this trouble with but it is the most important to me.
I found this video and asked HTC and Rovio if this would help.

HTC ( A company that should win countless awards for amazing customer service )  wrote me and said;
When you upgrade your phone from one version of Android to the next, in most cases your apps will be erased or removed from the device, similar to when you upgrade your PC operating system from say XP to Vista. Moving apps to the SD card does not keep them safe, it simply moves some of the application files to the SD card to free up space on the internal storage. However, a portion of the application files stay on the internal storage of the phone. Any apps on the SD card will need to be re-downloaded and reinstalled to your phone. There is no known method for restoring apps from the SD card after performing a ROM update.
Because of this, a portion the Angry Birds app was actually erased from the device storage when you upgraded the phone, while the remaining files were left on the SD card. You may have been able to move the app to the internal storage prior to upgrading the phone, but this likely would not have changed the result since apps from the market get deleted when a ROM upgrade is performed.
We deeply regret that you will have to begin your Angry Birds adventures from the beginning again. As for the video link that you sent, we cannot comment on the suggestions contained therein. You may want to ask the developers of the Angry Birds application as they would know more about the app and whether this will allow you to restore your achievements.

I am still waiting to hear back from Rovio the maker of Angry Birds.  I will update with their response.

  1. The same thing happened to me, but I just re-installed angry birds, and it kept all my stats. I'm trying Rio and seasonal next. Hopefully they all work!
